Lets have tea

Tea parties have become rather popular lately. And with the recession hitting everyone, there is nothing better than enjoying the company of great friends and conversation, while sipping tea, eating dainty sandwiches and yummy cakes, and all of this in the comfort of your own home.

Last week I hosted a tea party for one of my best friend, which is soon giving birth to her second child. I really wanted to make it special, so the table had to look elegant and pretty. Fresh flowers, linen table cloth, cloth napkins and vintage tea cups and plates. I bought these at the local vintage shop and they really set the scene for an elegant afternoon.

Local vintage shops or even charity shops are a great source. You might be lucky and find a complete matching set, but if not that is not a problem. Mismatching on this occasion it is ok, it actually adds more to the overall vintage look!

However if you really want to have it all matching, there are great shops online that have great tea sets. I particularly like The Orchard. They sell vintage inspired homewares and accessories. I love these vintage plates, cups and bowls. They also do beautiful shabby chic home accessories and reproduction french furniture, that will add a touch of vintage glamour to your home.
